REISHI MUSHROOM DOSAGE - WHAT TO CONSIDER
Reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum) are a natural food supplement. For this reason, the necessary reishi dosage can vary greatly depending on the type, origin and processing of the mushrooms.
The maximum Reishi powder daily dose is about 5000 mg. This should not be exceeded. At the beginning, it is recommended to take about 1500 to 2100 mg of Reishi powder, which can be increased step by step to 5 mg if necessary.
The recommended dosage of Reishi also depends on whether one uses Reishi capsules or the more common dried mushroom extracts such as Reishi powder, and furthermore. Therefore, the concentration of effective ingredients varies depending on the manufacturer and the origin of the mushroom. Especially with capsules, the mg of Reishi contained in each case varies, so you always have to follow the respective dosage recommendations. Liquid Reishi extracts are often much more potent than capsules or powder and rather not recommended for beginners or as a start.
Reishi dosage recommendations as a dietary supplement
- Reishi powder dosage: approx. 2 g to 5 g daily (1 time daily)
- Reishi capsules dosage: approx. 2 - 4 g (1 - 2 times daily 3 capsules at 700 mg each).
- Reishi extract (liquid): max. 5 ml daily

Using Reishi the right way - here's how!
You can buy reishi online as:
- Reishi powder (up to 5 g per day)
- Reishi extract (max. 5 ml per day)
- Reishi capsules (up to 4 mg per day)
The effect of Reishi does not differ when taken correctly.
The advantage of Reishi capsules is the exact and consistent dosage, also you save time because the application is very simple.
On the other hand, with powder you can adjust the individual dose precisely, which can be helpful in some cases, as well as side effects. For beginners, the use of Reishi capsules is recommended.
It should be noted that Reishi needs some time to develop its effect in the body. With proper use of Reishi mushrooms, it will take about two to three months for the mushrooms to develop their healing effects. However, the daily dose of Reishi should never be exceeded, because side effects are possible. All important information and also for whom Reishi may not be suitable, you can read in the blog: Reishi side effects.
How to take and prepare Reishi:
Take Reishi as a tea:
As an ingredient in dishes or cooking, Reishi mushrooms tend not to be suitable. They have a woody texture and taste quite bitter. However, the use of Reishi in the form of teas and infusions, which can also be sweetened, is very popular. How's it done:
- Put 1 tsp of Reishi powder in a cup
- pour boiling water over it
- let the tea steep covered for about 15 minutes
- pass the infusion through a sieve
- sweeten the Reishi tea if necessary (e.g. with honey or syrup)
- Enjoy warm or cold
Use Reishi as capsules:
The use of Reishi capsules is particularly popular. If you want to use Reishi as a daily dietary supplement or for prevention, the general recommendation is to take 3 capsules (700mg each) in the morning and evening. Ideally with plenty of liquid and, for those who tolerate it well, on an empty stomach.
Reishi powder intake:
The advantage of Reishi powder is that you can adjust the dose individually as well as use the powder for teas or soups. Most suppliers of Reishi powder include a measuring spoon, which is very helpful in measuring the Reishi powder dosage.
Alternatively, you can of course help yourself with a kitchen scale. However, on the go or in everyday life, the use of Reishi powder is a bit more difficult.
