WHAT IS LEMON BALM LEAF?

Lemon balm, a member of the mint family, thrives in gardens and orchards. The main characteristic of lemon balm is its strong, lemon-like aroma, which is why it is often referred to as lemon balm. Depending on the plant's growth location, climate conditions, developmental stage, and age, its leaves and flowers can contain anywhere from 0.01% to 0.33% of essential oil, consisting of 16 terpenes, with citral (75-85%) being the dominant component. The essential oil is known for its calming properties. Furthermore, the plant contains approximately 150 mg of vitamin C, organic acids, about 5% tannins, mucilage, and up to 20% fat in its seeds.
