The freshwater algae chlorella is considered a superfood. Applications include: Detoxification, nutritional supplementation, general enhancement of well-being, use in cosmetics, and many more, the benefits of chlorella are extensive.

The dosage of chlorella one should take varies from purpose to purpose. We have compiled the most important chlorella dosages and application recommendations:

General information on taking chlorella.

The recommendations differ slightly between providers. Their respective dosage recommendations should therefore always be read and followed. Also, the dosage of chlorella can vary depending on the product (tablets, powder, chlorella capsules, etc.), so the manufacturer's information must always be followed.

To begin with (as with almost all supplements and nootropics): The chlorella dose should be very low and increased step by step up to the recommended daily dose. So if you decide to take chlorella capsules, start with 1 to 2 servings (á 500mg) a day. After about 7 to 10 days, one reaches the recommended daily dose, depending on the intended purpose, effect and benefit of Chlorella.

General instructions for use:

- Chlorella is taken one to three times a day in single doses.

- Chlorella should be taken with plenty of fluids.

- Whether it is taken on an empty stomach or after meals depends on how the dietary supplement is best tolerated.

- When starting to use chlorella, it is advisable to choose a very low dose and increase it slowly from day to day until you reach the respective daily dose (so-called "creeping in") in order to avoid chlorella side effects.

- For beginners, a chlorella dose of only about 0.5 to 2g per day is recommended at the beginning.

- If chlorella side effects should occur, it is important to reduce the intake to the last well tolerated dose.

Chlorella dosage for adults as a dietary supplement:

- approx. 1 - 2g as powder or tablets in several individual doses over the course of the day.

- this corresponds to two to three chlorella capsules from RawPowders (the content of the capsules and tablets varies between suppliers)

- For the treatment of nutrient deficiencies, the dose can be up to 5g per day

Recommended chlorella dosages by purpose:

Chlorella dose for detoxification

- as a cure (about 8 weeks): max. daily dose of up to 20g per day

- slowly increase the dose to this value in the first 3-4 weeks: from about 500mg, increase gradually

- then reduce to 2 to 3g daily for about 4 weeks

- If you want to take the algae regularly to support the body in detoxification, about 3 capsules or 2 to 6g of chlorella powder daily are recommended.

Chlorella dosage for gastrointestinal health

- for intestinal cleansing, toxin removal and activation of intestinal activity, about 5 - 10g is considered the maximum daily dose

- period of chlorella use for the intestine: 1 - 3 months

- higher dosages of chlorella are possible, but recommended only under the supervision of a healer or doctor

Chlorella dosage for weight loss and diet support

- about 3 - 4g per day are recommended in combination with a healthy diet

Chlorella dosage for strengthening the immune system

- about 3 - 6g a day distributed over several single doses

- as a cure for a better immune system the intake of chlorella should be at least 3 months

Chlorella dosage for beautiful skin

- The recommended dose of chlorella can be increased from 2g per day to up to 10g (over a period of about 6 weeks).

- However, if side effects occur with chlorella, the dosage must be reduced

Chlorella ingredients

The highly praised effect of chlorella on a wide range of medical conditions is based primarily on the algae's ingredients.

Important ingredients of Chlorella are:

- Proteins

- Vitamins (A, B, C, E, K)

- Chlorophyll

- Carotenoids

- Trace elements (zinc, iron, copper)

- Amino acids

- Minerals (iodine, potassium, calcium)

- Carbohydrates

- Fats (omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids)

- Triterpenes

- and others.

These chlorella ingredients are very important for the human organism and healthy body functions.

Among other things, vitamin A supports the formation of red blood cells and skin health; vitamin C protects the organism from free radicals, vitamin E protects cell membranes and ensures healthy skin and hair, vitamin B12 is essential for cell regeneration and many other body functions.

All in all, chlorella contains many nutrients, minerals and vitamins, but not in sufficient quantities.

This means that a healthy and balanced diet with plenty of vegetables, fish and fruit is an important basis for a healthy body and mind.

Chlorella as a dietary supplement can somewhat compensate for an unbalanced or severe malnutrition. However, it should not serve as the sole nutrient supply.

Especially in the case of vitamin B 12 deficiency, the intake of chlorella preparations is unlikely to be sufficient to replenish it. Consultation with doctors or pharmacists is important anyway in the case of pre-existing conditions or deficiency symptoms to ensure optimal treatment and also to rule out interactions and possible side effects of chlorella.

Buy Chlorella powder or use Chlorella capsules?

Regardless of whether you want to buy chlorella powder or use the microalgae as chlorella capsules or tablets - the ingredients are basically the same: ground algae, and in the case of capsules, additional ingredients (e.g. silicon dioxide) are also included. However, the chlorella content in the capsules differs from supplier to supplier.

Advantages of chlorella powder:

- exact, individual adjustment of the dose is possible, especially at the beginning (very low chlorella dosages are necessary)

- Measuring spoon simplifies this process

- Chlorella powder can be added to smoothies, soups, etc.

Advantages of Chlorella capsules:

- consistent chlorella dose per serving

- ideal for on the go

- suitable for experienced users

- simple and uncomplicated

- usually somewhat cheaper than pure chlorella powder
