WHAT IS SKULLCAP?

Skullcap belong to the family of labial flowers. It is a perennial herb that grows to a height of 15-30 cm. The plant grows on sunny mountain slopes, in dry sandy soil. Widespread in Japan, China, Korea, Mongolia, Russia. Medicinal plant raw material: the roots are mostly used, but the above-ground part of the plant, shoots can be used. The root is brown, at the point of fracture it is light yellow.

WHY IS IT USEFUL?

Skullcap accumulate flavonoids (baicalin, baicalein, vogonin, vogonoside, apigenin, hispidulin, luteolin, scutellarin, scutellarein, oroxylin A, oroxyloside, scutevulin, chrysin), amino acids, essential oils (caryophyllene, terpineol, beta-humulene), tannins, resin, roots contain starch. Skullcap have been used in Eastern medicine for more than 3000 years. They have a broad pharmacological effect, which mainly depends on flavonoids.
